On Memorial weekend we went for a drive into the mountains. We stopped to do a short hike.
Carissa and the kids at the top:
Alan and Conner with the Missouri river behind them:
Then we drove over to Holter lake and had lunch. We decided to do another hike. It wasn't very pretty, since we were walking through a burned out area most of the time. The little ones were tired and hot and they did not feel like walking.
Brooklyn took a nap on the hike:
We made it down to the lake and we let the kids play in the sand while Reed walked back on the road to get our van and come pick us up:
Alan and Conner worked hard to build a dam:
Alan and Conner had crazy hair day at school. They both wanted a Mohawk:
We decided to fix the walls in our bathroom. We hired a guy in our ward and he tore out some of the walls and put of new stuff, as well as a new heater and a new fan. As he was tearing out the walls he came across this: a cubby hole that had been walled off. It went back about 6 feet and then it also expands out to the left for 3 or 4 feet. It was a space under the sloping roof that someone filled with garbage - old linoleum, wall paper, even an old closet door. So weird.
We debated what to do about it but we were already over budget at this point so we decided to make and extra little cupboard there but block up the back part.
We took the kids to eat at Fuddruckers and as part of the outing we gave them each a couple of bucks to spend at the arcade games. Micah saw one of those games where you drop a claw and try to get a stuffed animal. Both of his older brothers had already tried and failed but he really wanted to try. The only problem was that he was too short to see into the machine to know where to drop the claw. I told him I would put the money and then lift him up so that he could play. Well, I dropped the money in and he immediately jerked the lever and dropped the claw. To my amazement he actually caught something, without actually looking. Here he is with his stuffed animal:

Reed and I went on a practice trek. We were asked to be a Ma and Pa for our Stake youth trek and they had an adults only trek at the end of May so that we kind of had an idea of what we were doing. It was really fun to go - the weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. It was really fun to get to know other couples in our stake while we pulled handcarts together.
