This morning Alan and I were eating oatmeal and toast with peanut butter for breakfast. Conner was sitting in his swing close by watching us. I left the room for a minute to get something and when I came back Alan was climbing back into his chair. I glanced at Conner and he was fine so I started to eat again. After a minute Conner started to fuss so I picked him up and brought him back to the table with me. Then I noticed that he had some orange/brown stuff in one of his eyebrows that looked suspiciously like peanut butter. Then, even stranger, I noticed that he had a big wet patch on his forehead. I wiped the wet stuff off with my hand, wondering what was going on. Alan watched me do this. Then he smiled and said "I lick it off". Then understanding dawned. I asked Alan if he had licked peanut butter off of Conner and he said "Yeah!" Alan must have given him a kiss and left some peanut butter on him, so he cleaned it off. Poor Conner!
Then a minute later he wanted to give Conner another kiss so I told him to go and wash his hands and face first. He came running back, whimpering, and said:
A: A lion!!
Me: Is there a lion in the bathroom?
A: Yeah!!
Me: Go tell that lion to go away.
A: Okay
from the hallway I hear:
A: Go outside lion, go outside. Mom, a lion!
Me: Is the lion still there?
A: Yeah!! I want to shoot!
Me: Yeah, go shoo it away.
A: Shoo lion, shoo. Go to Zoo!!
I love his imagination! That is our morning so far. Have a wonderful day.

Busy, busy, busy
So Conner had his 1 month well child check up on June 9th. Here are his stats:
weight: 10 lbs. 1 1/2 oz.
50th percentile
height: 23 1/4 inches
90th percentile
So he is long and skinny (although he is putting on more chunk now, I think).
Here are some pictures of one month old Conner:
We all went to the zoo while Mom and Dad B. were here. Here Reed, Alan and I are posing as wildlife.
The zoo has machines where you can put in a quarter and get fish food out. Alan loves to feed the ducks, as shown below.

Last weekend we took Alan to an outdoor swimming pool that has some slides, and a bunch of fun toys. Alan was so past excited it was funny. He couldn't hold still. The pool is surrounded by a fence and the whole time that we were outside the pool Alan kept saying he wanted to go "into the cage". I wish I would have remembered the camera. Unfortunately the pool tricked us and by the time we got in to the pool it was only open for 45 minutes. Oh well.
This week I went to Girl's camp with Conner. I only went up for the day because there wasn't any extra room for me to sleep, plus sleeping there with a 6 week old baby didn't sound like fun. It was a long drive up and back on one day but it was worth it. It was a lot of fun to see the girls there and we had our Bishop's night that evening. It was wonderful to listen to the Bishop talk to the girls and he brought a wonderful chocolate pie to share at the end. Yum!!
Reed is headed to Scout camp this next week. It has been kind of stressful for him to get all the boys ready to go but hopefully it will be fun.
That is an update on our wonderful, busy (I ran out of time to put down all the things we have been up to) life. Have a wonderful day!

First Smiles
I could sum Conner up as easy-going. He is a pretty relaxed baby. He hardly ever cries and he doesn't get fussy very often for which I am extremely grateful! And last night he slept for 6 hours in a row!!! Yes, I got about 5 1/2 uninterrupted hours of sleep and it felt so good.

Conner's Blessing
We decided to bless Conner on June 8th while Mom and Dad Bassett were here. It was a very nice day. Reed did a good job. I always love hearing babies get blessed, especially my own babies! Conner was 1 month old, so I was afraid that the blessing outfit would be too big but it fit just right.

Mom and Dad Bassett's Visit
Mom and Dad Bassett and Mindy came to visit us last Tuesday. It was so good to see them!! It was really fun to meet Mindy, she is a cool girl. When they first got here Alan showed them his remote control race cars and soon Mindy and Dad were busy playing, trying to run their cars into each other. It was fun to watch. Here is a pic:
The next day we all drove down to Denver. We dropped Mindy off and met her parents. They were kind enough to feed us dinner, which was delicious. Then we checked into our hotel. The next day Mom and Dad went to their class and we went to The Denver Aquarium. Alan enjoyed it but he wasn't as excited as we thought he would be. Reed and I had a lot of fun though, I especially liked the flash flood simulation.

For lunch we went to the 16th street mall. We ate a small lunch at one restaurant, then another snack at a different restaurant and then we finished with dessert in another. That was really fun for Reed and I because we live in a restaurant challenged city. For Alan, the highlight of the day was riding the free bus that takes you up and down the street. He would have done that all day if we had let him. One time we came out of a restaurant and one of the buses was just pulling away...Alan started sprinting after it yelling "Wait, come back, come back!!!" in a panic stricken voice. We had to call him back and reassure him that another one was going to come in a couple of minutes. We took Mom and Dad back there on Saturday and this is a picture of everyone getting on the bus.
Then we went back to the hotel for a nap. That night we went to Casa Bonita for dinner again. We found that there was a couple of dishes that Dad could have. Alan had a lot of fun, except when Reed took him through the haunted tunnel. Reed said he did okay until a big gorilla popped up: Alan screamed and after that he was done with the tunnel. That is all Alan could talk about on the way home. He told me "I am mad at the monkey, cause the monkey made me sad, and I cried." I kept trying to steer the conversation away from the monkey but Alan kept going back to it. On the floor by the puppet stage there are some coins in the cement and Alan really wanted to get them out:
It was a very long and fun day. The next day we went to the bishop's store house and canned 18 cans of wheat and 18 cans of rice to add to our food storage. That night we went to a restaurant that had a 2 story slide. Alan thought that was the best (too bad we forgot the camera). The next day Mom and Dad were done with their class so we all went to the natural history museum. There was lots to see (we didn't see everything). They had a planetarium and an Imax theater. We decided to go to both. Conner did really well through both of them. Alan on the other hand got scared during the planetarium show (it had a huge screen and it looked like the stars were coming right at you). Grandma ended up holding him for a good portion of the show. After it was over Alan said "Its over....Thank-you!" I think he was thanking us for taking him to see it but it sounded like he was glad the show was over. In contrast, when we went to the Imax theater we saw a show about the ocean that wasn't scary at all. In the middle of that show Alan turned to Reed and said "This is fun...I like it". For Alan the best part was when we went to the discovery area. He got to make music in a percussion band and then the kids all went on parade to show off their instruments. Alan lost interest half way through the parade and walked out of line when he saw some magnets to play with. He also liked blowing bubbles, playing with the wind machine, dressing up in costumes, and playing with the other toys.

All in all it was a fun and busy week and we loved every minute we got to spend with Mom and Dad!!!

Alan update
Alan has been very cute lately so here is an update.
His vocabulary has taken another jump and he is becoming a conversationalist. He likes to ask "whats that, hm-ha?", "why you...?", and "where you going?" Then he will often say "hmm?". You will repeat your answer and he will say "hmmm?" This will go on until you stop answering. It is kind of an annoying phase that he is in. Another favorite phase is "the whole time". He does everything for the "whole time". For example "I was watching it the whole time" (he was sitting in front of the tv for 2 minutes, and when he saw me that is what he said). Also, Alan does not like thunder so when he goes to bed now he will ask about the "wonders" (thunder). Other favorite phrases:
"yep thats right"
"I think so"
"yes siree"
Reed was helping Alan say the prayer today
Reed: "please bless that we will have a good day"
Alan: "no, its afternoon"
I can't think of any more to write but he has said a ton of cute stuff - I just can't remember it.

Alan loves his new brother. He always says "I want to kiss mine baby Conner". He is usually very gentle, but sometimes a little too helpful. Like the time that Conner was fussing a little so Alan found one of those plastic electrical outlet coverings and tried to stuff the prongs into Conner's mouth (to Alan it looked like a pacifier). Also he gets very excited when Conner stirs in his sleep: he will run over to him, put his face about 6 inches from Conner's and yell "He's waking up!!" Then Conner definitely does wake up, poor guy. If that doesn't work I have caught him trying to peel Conner's eyelids up so that he can look for his eyes.
